HOJO STUDIO Launches the STATE OF PLAY NSW INDIE GAMES ADVISORY BOARD
Hojo Studio is proud to head up the State of Play NSW Indie Games advisory board in collaboration with a diverse spectrum of developers, advocates and industry professionals drawn from all across NSW dedicated to giving NSW independent developers a sorely needed voice among state agencies, funding bodies and industry stakeholders.
Despite the videogame industry being worth billions of dollars worldwide, independent game developers from NSW are among the least supported in the country, with a vast disparity between the amount of funding available for games projects versus TV and film productions in the state. Game developers receive just 1% of all screen funding available in NSW - leading to a crisis in talent drain, with developers moving to more supportive states such as Victoria, Queensland or overseas.
The board has launched a survey for local developers to collect real data on the challenges, successes, and needs of our local industry to push for better funding, support, and opportunities.
